Extend the viewing period of the 12th ACS Annual Conference Online Platform (Confit)

Dear Conference Participants,

Thank you for your participation in the 12th Annual Conference of the Asian Criminological Society (ACS2020) held at Ryukoku University, Kyoto, Japan from June 18 to 21, 2021. We had more than 200 presenters and 260 participants. On behalf of the Conference Organizing Committee, I would like to express our sincere appreciation.

Although the recording of the Conference was originally scheduled to be available until the end of June 2021, owing to its popularity President Dr. Setsuo MIYAZAWA has requested that we continue to make it available. Consequently, the Organizing Committee has decided to extend the viewing period until August 31, 2021, and we hope that all presenters and participants continue to enjoy the recordings during this period.

If you have any problems with your recording being made available for this extended period of time, please contact the Conference Secretariat and we will remove the recording from the online platform (Confit).

In the event that you do not wish to have your recording available for extended viewing, please contact us via the email address below:

We would like to call on the Asian Criminological Society, the European Society of Criminology, the American Society of Criminology, and other organizations to allow those who are interested in the conference to view the proceedings for a fee. The proceeds will be used to cover the costs of running the conference, and we would appreciate your understanding.

Thank you once again for your participation in this year's conference, and I look forward to meeting you at the next one.

Best regards,
Shin-ichi ISHIZUKA

Welcome Message

12th Annual Conference of the Asian Criminological Society (ACS)
Ryukoku University, Kyoto, Japan
18-21 June 2021

"Crime and Punishment under Asian Cultures: Tradition and Innovation in Criminology"

Perhaps nowhere is more symbolic of the dual existence of 'tradition and innovation' than that of the 2020 ACS Conference host country Japan, which whilst being world-leaders in innovative technologies, simultaneously continues to retain and reproduce a rich cultural identity.
Understanding how these two facets manifest in crime and punishment, and the pressures and opportunities that they give rise to, is a key challenge for criminology in Asia and beyond and forms the central theme for this year's annual conference. On behalf of the Asian Criminological Society and the Local Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to Kyoto, the cultural heart of Japan, to participate in the ACS 2020 Conference, "Crime and Punishment under Asian Cultures: Tradition and Innovation in Criminology".
